Of course it wasn't! You were most likely baptized at a moment of your existence in which your consciousness was a bit flimsy at best, and your opposition would most likely have consisted of cries, tears and maybe a bit of vomiting here and there.
You were made a member of that particular sect without any form of consent, an act of habit and ancestral customs from your parents.
On that day you were also made subject to their LAWS!
But the constitutions of the nations of the free world DO guaranty us all the right to freedom of religion!
As such we also have he right to not be subjected to their laws!
The definition of marriage, "THE UNION BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN", just like the abject vilification of homosexuality, is purely based on religions that denies the biological, and therefor genetic, realities of the life forms that inhabits our planet.
The definition of life, "LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION (OR OVULATION IF YOU LIVE IN ARIZONA)" just like the rights of a woman over her own body, is also purely based on religions that denies the self sovereignty of all humans.
And as such all registered Christians remain subject to them!
But if you would
not accept sharia laws to be enacted in your nation, why would you then
tolerate laws based on Judaism or Christianity?
The primary reason to the statement "THIS IS A CHRISTIAN NATION!" is simply the amount of registered Christians, including all the atheist who were baptized at birth!
Yes you read that right!
Being an atheist by declaring either mentally or vocally or through social medias that you deny Christianity does not in any ways, shape or form, remove you from being a REGISTERED CHRISTIAN!
Nop!
For that you need to:
APOSTATIZE!
In other words you need to officially and solemnly declare to the local authorities of your particular sect that you are apostatizing, which means that you renounce your particular faith, by writing a properly dated letter to that effect to your regional Diocese.

Procedure to follow to Apostatize:
1) The name of your city, the date in the format This day month year
Name of your regional bishop
Bishop of Name of the city
Diocese of Name of the city
Address of your Diocese
City, Province, Postal code
2) Signal at the beginning of the letter that it's subject is about apostasy, example:
Object : Declaration of apostasy of faith and excommunication.
By this letter i convey to you my intent of being clearly identified in your registry as apostate.
3) Write a couple of lines in order to explain your decision, remember who you're talking to and play the game THEIR way. Positive argumentation rather than vulgarity or insults, this is not a tweet sent in anonymity to some believer, this is an official letter to sanctimonious people, respect will get you much further much faster. example:
My motivation is simple but essential : honesty. This simple administrative act would appease our mutual quest for truth. Indeed i can not allow myself to be part of a community whose past, present and future, guide lines, ideologies and politic, social and moral, positions, i can no more stand for than accept.
4) Follow with the information required for the Diocese administrators to trace you back in their registries : Name of the parish in which you were baptized, date of baptism, name on your baptism certificate (you may also join a copy of the certificate itself).
I was baptized at the ____ parish, in ____, on the day month year, under the name ____.
5) Make your declaration of apostasy, once again honest arguments and respectful tones are better suited. Example:
Since i never had the faith, nor did i ever willingly participate in your rituals, nor have i ever had the desire and/or will to be part of your religious movement, i would ask that you please add, on any and every registry that the catholic church maintains, in regards to my name, a mention officially identifying my apostasy.
6) Add the following reference to canon law, canon law is the text that rules, amongst other things, the administrative decisions of the catholic church, and it is this phrase that is the key to a fast and efficient excommunication. Indeed the canon law states that who ever renounce the catholic faith is automatically excommunicated and that excommunication becomes effective without delay (latae sententiae).
This will put your diocese in a position that forces them to excommunicate you immediately if they want to respect their own rules. I suggest you take the following statement and past it directly in your letter.
My membership to the Catholic Church ends by the present letter signifying to you my apostasy, and this, by virtue of article 1364 of the canon law which clearly evokes : «“An apostate from the faith, a heretic, or a schismatic incurs a latae sententiae excommunication.”»
If you change the form, be sure not to alter the quote and be sure to express clearly your understanding of this procedure by making reference to article 1364 of the canon law.
7) Finish by asking for a written confirmation of your excommunication and give your coordinates (including your phone number).
I ask that you conclude this procedure by sending me a written confirmation of my excommunication, confirmation which will include the mention that will be added to my name in your registries.

8) Dont forget to sign, and a little polite word doesn't hurt either.

Of course they are still going to take their time to comply, to give you time to change your mind and such. Call and write back to your diocese every couple of months until they finally send you the confirmation, if you persist it shouldn't take more than a year.
Only one question remains
why are you an atheist?
And it is the answer to that question that will dictate whether you will apostatize or not!
I do hope that you do understand that it is only once you have apostatized that you can refuse to be subjected to their laws and actually demand that your non christian beliefs and values be recognized constitutionally.
And i also hope that you do understand that as long as atheists remain on the catholic registry they continue to be considered as Christians which falsely inflates the number of Christians in any given nation, and this is what still gives them so much power in any given nation.
Civilization still remains nothing more than a mirror reflecting to you

In the act of indoctrinating their children, parents, and their mind raping priest, have remove, through the imposition of irrational fears, from children the ability to question things. That's why fighting
believers with insults and denigration has as much probability of
helping us move forward than yelling denigrating insults at people
addicted to drug has at making them stop consuming.
By the simple administrative act of declaring to the church your apostasy you can actually remove power from them by simply lowering the official amount of registered Christians.
If i am an atheist it is not because i have no beliefs at all. I am an atheist because i have spent a life time studying the various field of science and can now explain the universe from infinite emptiness all the way to way too self aware apes like us with over bloated senses of self who pretend that they are sentient all the will not believing that they actually have free will!
And just like Laplace to Napoleon when the latter said to the former, about his work on the orbits of the planets, "You forgot to mention the architect!" i state "I found no need for it!"
To me it is as if the universe itself was saying "Look for yourself and you will know, if gods were real i couldn't be the way i am!"
And that is my reason for apostatizing, not because it is now cool and in to be an atheist, but because i have questioned everything and now this i know for a fact and beyond the shadow of a doubt:
There are no such things as creating/interventionist deities!
But that being said the word CREATION can still be applied to the universe because no matter how you look at it, this universe will always unavoidably lead to life!
And as such it is a massive engine of creation!
For whatever that particular word means to you!
